Our Journey
1997-2005
LAYING THE FOUNDATION
For eight years, the D. Lkhagvajav family worked at one of South Korea’s leading sock manufacturers, mastering the art and craft of sock production from the ground up. This extensive experience and technical know-how later became the foundation for Mongolia’s first fully integrated sock manufacturing operation.

THE BIRTH OF YANMAL
With just two knitting machines, Yanmal was established as Mongolia’s first specialized sock manufacturer. For the first time in Mongolia, knitting, sewing, and finishing were brought together under one integrated production process, marking a historic milestone for the country’s textile industry.
2008
MONGOLIA’S FIRST WOOL SOCKS
Yanmal began producing and supplying locally made wool socks to the Mongolian market for the first time. As production capacity grew to 24 knitting machines, Yanmal established itself as a nationally recognized Mongolian brand.
2011
THE SOCK SUPERMARKET
With support from JICA and World Bank programs, Yanmal doubled its production capacity and launched the “Sock Supermarket” retail network, specializing exclusively in socks. What began as an innovative concept has since grown into a nationwide network of 16 stores.
2016
ENTERING THE GLOBAL MARKET
Yanmal officially exported its first full 40-ton container shipment of socks. This marked a major transition from a domestic brand to an international supplier.
2017
FROM HERDER TO FINISHED PRODUCT
Selected for an Asian Development Bank project, Yanmal acquired equipment from Italy, Poland, and China and established its own wool washing, carding, and spinning facilities. By processing Mongolian wool into yarn in-house, Yanmal created a fully integrated value chain—from the hands of herders to the finished branded product.
2020
THE VALUE OF LOCAL MANUFACTURING
During the global pandemic, when supply chains were severely disrupted, Yanmal continued operating with 100% locally sourced raw materials. This enabled the company to maintain stable production and supply the domestic market without interruption.
2024
THE WHITE GOLD PROJECT
President of Mongolia U. Khurelsukh visited the facility and endorsed the initiative “Taking Mongolian Wool to the World,” which was subsequently announced as a national program. The initiative provided momentum for doubling export production, while Yanmal expanded its capacity to produce 6 million pairs of wool socks annually.

TAKING MONGOLIAN WOOL TO THE WORLD
With a secure supply of raw materials and high production capacity, Yanmal has reached the level of fulfilling major international orders. The company has established official stores on leading global platforms including Amazon (USA), Taobao & TikTok Shop (China), and KASPI (Kazakhstan), actively bringing the exceptional quality of Mongolian wool to customers around the world.
